The creative talents of Max Talon and SugarMay

This website was created for the creative duo of mother and son, Darla Sue Mayfield and Ed Otero III. The name Mayote was created from the first three letters of Mayfield and from Otero.

Ed creates his work under the name Max Talon which he first used as a gamertag while playing video games. You can find him on Xbox Live under that name. He currently works with acrylics, painting in an abstract style. Recently he has discovered digital art which he has applied to creating Halloween invitations and logos. He also is working on a comic book about an egotistical superhero.

From an early age, Ed has loved to sketch and draw pictures. Being an Army brat he found the constant moving about frustrating and saw it difficult to establish longtime friendships. Ed used drawing as a way of escapism until moving to Las Vegas in 1995, where he began a career in the booming housing market as an AutoCAD technician for a major Civil Engineering Firm. During this time, art took a back seat to thinking he needed to start a career. Eventually he began to wake up from that dream with the start of the Annual Mayote Halloween Party which required a major tranformation of his home and the now classic Halloween Invitations.

Ed is trying to recapture time lost in pursuing his love of art. Recently becoming a member of the Vegas Artists' Guild, he is now on his way of accomplishing his dream of becoming a working artist.

Darla works under the name SugarMay which was derived from her nickname during her school years and the first three letters of her last name. She is currently working in the art of homemade jewelry using glass beads and fine precious stones. She has the unique ability to create custom jewelry from a single earring that has lost it's pairing or establishing a design from a single pendant or charm.
